Highlights from Council and Staff
- The church council meeting minutes for Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
- Steve with Mindful Business Solutions spoke about ongoing activity with updating our bookkeeping, through upgrades to Quickbooks software, and about current challenges and needs for our accounting. Caleb and Violet each gave personnel reports that expressed that they were working right up to their 20 hours per week, and shared what support they needed and what their current and future projects are. Caleb is working to produce music and looking for musical collaborations and Violet is documenting current procedures and moving to start analysis on social media use and outreach. Pastor Marty shared the need for both funeral services for various members as well as an upcoming baptism, and discussed how to meet these needs.
- Various parking spaces have been rented to different groups, and the church roof is currently being fixed, with a small delay into next week for some unforeseen material needs, but the roof should be completed soon. Some initial ideas outlining the specific steps and needs for opening the church have been put together and are being discussed as a concept with no dates currently targeted. There will be another Q&A session for the congregation with Dan and Kristin in July, as this past session was successful.
- The planning of small group ministries is being discussed, with the council currently needing to create member lists for the groups. Discussion around support for groups, meeting times, and how to keep groups self-perpetuating. Please keep an eye out for an email later this week.
- You may have received news from the council that Erica H has stepped down from OSLC Choir Director. Please see A Letter From Council for more details.

Community Partnership Spotlight
In times of trouble and divide we find unity in our faith and with others who are faithful. Thank you Mary Fulton for sharing this beautiful unified blessing from various churches in Philadelphia with us:
Care of Creation
Another name for human solidarity is love, and when I think about our world in its present form, that is what overwhelms me. The human love that works to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, the love that comes together in defense of sea turtles and sea ice and of all else around us that is good. The love that lets each of us see we’re not the most important thing on earth, and makes us okay with that. . . . Bill McKibben, founder 350.org
Action: We know that all the issues we have been facing already are made more challenging with the climate crisis. Issues of racism have become blatant and obvious. There are matters of systemic change that need addressing to show the love we have for humanity along with our environmental concerns. Watch for two Colorado initiatives coming from public discourse to help create better equalization and fairness in our communities: Paid Family Leave and Fair Tax. Further details forthcoming as we get closer to November and the ballot box.
Please send prayer requests or praise reports to OSLC915@gmail.com
