This past week has been such a different experience as a church and a world. It is hard to believe things can change so quickly, and that our systems that seem so normal are actually so brittle and interconnected. Thanks be to God for our church during this time, to remind us that we are connected in important ways to a God that doesn’t change. God’s love is steadfast and true and is always with us in our crazy human journey.
This week was also a crash course in learning technology together as a congregation. Thanks to all of you who have joined us on zoom, and YouTube, and Facebook in new ways. It has been fun to put some of those videos together and bring the word in new ways.
Look for many new ways for us be meeting in the next days and weeks. This week there will be a link for Wednesday worship and Sunday worship as well as other events.
Finally, don’t be afraid to forward the links we send to your friends and family outside of OSLC. Let’s expand our reach and keep our ministry moving forward in new ways at this time! God is with us on this journey and we are called to be church during this time in new ways. We will be up to this challenge!
Thanks be to God for all of you and I hope you have a safe and positive week!
Peace, Pastor Marty
This ‘n’ That
- Many of you know that Gerry F and Irene L have been traveling in Australia. And you may have wondered how they are doing, especially since Australia is cutting off all travel. Here is the message Dorothy received (on 3/20) from Irene: “We’re doing well. Tour is being cut short. Will return to Denver in a few days. Thanks for checking in. Love Irene”
- Continuing with “Care of Creation.” This one is a little overdue, since it’s related to ST. PATRICK’S DAY “I arise today through the strength of heaven: Light of sun; Brilliance of moon.” – St. Patrick —- Action: Commit to getting one piece of solar equipment: a solar light, a solar charger for your phone, or solar building panels.
- Devotional books for the next quarter (April – June) have arrived. We have extremely limited access to the church building, but maybe there’s a way we could distribute these to you who want to have them. Could someone mail these out? Send an email to admin@oslchurchdenver.org, or leave a voice message on the phone (303.831.7023) and we’ll try to pass these along.
- The Palm Sunday Prayer Walk that Urban Servant Corps sponsors every year will not take place on April 5th. No surprise there! They do plan to hold it later in the year, and are looking for clever ideas for an alternate liturgical day—maybe in summer—to reschedule. In jest, they thought maybe the beheading of St John the Baptist??!?
