Mission Statement

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church connects people to God and Each Other.  We embody this mission through Word and Sacrament Worship, Music, Faith Formation, Service, and Authentic Community.

Here is what you missed: Worship Service August 30, 2020

Highlights from Council and Staff

  • Prayer Requests and Praise Reports will be kept on the list for 4 weeks unless you have requested to keep them on longer. Please remember to send prayer requests and praise reports to OSLC915@gmail.com. Each prayer request/praise report is privately shared with our Prayer Warriors immediately as well on the Monday email blast.

  • Please check the Church Directory online to make sure that it is current and up to date with your information. It can be accessed through this link on our website: https://oslchurchdenver.ctrn.co/directory/index.php. As we maintain Worship digitally, this Directory will be very important to access. Please reach out to Communications@oslchurchdenver.org if you have any questions.

  • If you know of anyone or has checked on those who are shut in or do not have computer access please send their name and physical address to Communications@oslchurchdenver.org. As Violet creates this new e-blast, her hope is that it is a smooth transition to a paper based option that is set to occur later in the Fall.

Community Spotlight:
Opportunities to serve during these interesting times

The Pandemic hits all of us, but it hits the homeless shelters more. There have been sidewalk events held for the past 2 years that would accept donations, but because of the Pandemic, those donations and events have ceased. Please help fellow congregant and council member Dean Zessin raise $1,000 to buy 1000 pairs of socks to distribute to shelters. The goal is to have them distributed by mid-September. Please send what you can or ship pairs of socks to Dean, 550 E 12th Ave #1103, Denver 80203.

Another opportunity:
We have partnered with International Rescue Committee (IRC) to help refugees moving to Denver. Currently there are 5 families moving to the Denver Metro area starting August 20th to September 16th. IRC is in need of furniture and supplies for these new refugees and others to come. Please select the link below to see what items and furniture pieces they need. If you can donate, please email Judy Denison and she will pick up the items and abide by the social distancing measures in place.

Care of Creation

It’s our turn now, long overdue. Let us hold a giveaway for Mother Earth, spread our blankets out for her and pile them high with gifts of our own making. Gifts of mind, hands, heart, voice, and vision all offered up on behalf of the earth. Whatever our gift, we are called to give it and to dance for the renewal of the world. In return for the privilege of breath. Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

Action:
Nadeen Ibrahim has requested this be shared with you because the Census is so important. Colorado is 21st in the nation in completing the census, at 67.5% completion.  End date is Sept 30 which is a month earlier than originally announced.

If you have a public event, or hear of one in your area, please reach out to Nadeen so they can get someone there to help ensure stronger completion numbers for Colorado: nadeen.m.ibrahim@2020census.gov

If any of these prayer requests have been turned into praise reports please email OSLC915@gmail.com

Prayer Requests

As a collective and not being specific, please lift up a those who have been in remission and have had an recurrence of Cancer, we lift up those who have suffered a loss (job, income, family), we lift up that everyone stays well and smart during these unprecedented times, we pray for all small businesses and restaurants affected by Covid, we lift up marriages and health factors that are in question, we lift up the caregivers as they care for others, we lift up the first responders as well as the well being of the human race, we pray that we are given the right words and heart when we are faced with those who do not see eye to eye with us,  we pray that we are willing to have those tough conversations that are so important to bridge the gaps of difference, we pray for those struggling against white privilege as an individual as well as group, and we pray that though we are undergoing hard times, that we all can rediscover joy under restriction.

Praise Reports:
We thank God for new job and business opportunities.
