Stewardship is a biblical concept that covers the entire spectrum of a life of faith. Stewardship is about taking care of or cultivating each area of our lives in accordance with the principles that give us life. To steward is to give life through careful attention.
To steward the earth is to protect and replenish it and to maintain its sustainability.
To steward our bodies and our emotional responses is to care for them in ways that foster health, which filters out into our relationships and communities of work, civic life, family and worship.
To steward our finances is to use them in accordance with our most deeply held values, the ones that give us health and life and that sustain us over time.
To steward our minds is to cultivate learning that feeds us and our communities with creative possibilities and expanded knowledge.
To steward our spiritual lives is to deepen our relationship with our faith community, its teachings, service opportunities, its ethics and its sacred scriptures, that we might be, as St. Francis prayed, the “instruments of God’s peace.”
Christian stewardship is always Christ-centered and reflects the values of the kingdom of God announced by Jesus in the gospels. Your gift to Our Savior’s will be used to foster these life-giving values in service to the community.
There are many ways you can support OSLC financially:
You can place your gift in the weekly offering basket during Sunday 9:30am worship.
Send a check to the church at: Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 915 E 9th Ave, Denver, CO 80218. When you do this you are supporting the ministries of this church, which reach out to homeless families and individuals, people seeking rental assistance, the mental health community, seniors in the community and more.
If you would like to have a fixed amount withdrawn from your checking or savings account, call the office at Our Savior’s, 303-831-7023…you pick the frequency and amount when you supply the church with a voided check or bank routing and account numbers.
Purchase Grocery Gift Cards You can purchase grocery gift cards on Sunday mornings or during the week from the church office (Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm). Denominations are determined by the stores and 5% of your purchase with these cards is donated back to the church for its ministries from the grocery stores. Purchase these from the church with either cash or check payable to Our Savior’s and be careful…losing a card is just like losing cash!! Participating stores include:
King Soopers…purchase for $25 only from Our Savior’s, then load more at the store check-out line or customer service desk…perks (fuel points, etc.) apply and you can you the gift card balance to purchase fuel, prescriptions and anything Kings sells EXCEPT other gift cards. (Note: if you allow your card balance to be zero for more than three months, Kings will disassociate that card number from Our Savior’s, meaning the church gets no benefit from it…buy a new card.)
Safeway…purchase for $10 only from Our Savior’s, then load more at the store check-our line or customer service desk…perks (fuel points, etc.) apply. (Note: if you allow your card balance to be zero for more than three months, Safeway will disassociate that card number from Our Savior’s, meaning the church gets no benefit from it…buy a new card.)
Sprouts…purchase for $25, $50 or $100 from Our Savior’s…Sprouts cards are NOT re-loadable, so you need to repurchase at the church frequently.
Natural Grocers…purchase for $25, $50 or $100 from Our Savior’s…NG cards are NOT re-loadable, so you need to repurchase at the church frequently.
Tony’s Market…purchase for $25 only from Our Saviors…Tony’s will allow you to reload cards, but no
benefit beyond the original $25 purchase goes to OSLC…buy multiple cards
Designate funds to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Denver, if you are a member of Thrivent Financial.
Thrivent Financial Members have two ways to help the church, using Thrivent’s money, not yours…
- designate your Thrivent dollars for OSLC Denver and
- apply for a $250 Thrivent Gift Card to put on an event (National Night Out, Blessing of the Animals, etc.) and then, because you spent Thrivent money instead of your own, give a little extra to OSLC.
Not sure how either of these works? Contact your Thrivent representative for help and information.
